The Commission

During 2007 as James Thompson was driving home from church God gave him a word. He told him that we needed to Teach, Equip and Empower the body of Christ to evangelise. GO FOR SOULS is the product of this commission. ”GO FOR SOULS” come from the popular quote by General William Booth, founder of The Salvation Army. He was urging his troops to lead 100,000 people saved in just 6 months! This aggressive evangelism characterised the early Salvation Army.

The Conference

The main way GO FOR SOULS has been operating is through an annual conference. The conference has always meant to be simple, cheap and practical. (The aim was not for a spectacular conference, rather that people would take what they learnt home and apply it.) In 2009 we had the very first Go FOR SOULS conference in Canada. In Australia we have had a range of speakers including International speakers who have taught including Captain Steve Court, Captain Nesan Kistan (AUE) Captain Rowan Castle (S.A), Alex Coleman, Jason Golden (USA), Major Jack Strickland (Canada), Andy Harrison from Planetshakers and Cadet Peter Brookshaw.

The conference teaches all types of evangelism through workshops, prayer and outreach. In the past we have taught Servant Evangelism, Power Evangelism, Relational Evangelism, The Good Test, Praise Evangelism, Spiritual Readings, Street Preaching, How to get your school saved, How to get your family saved, Evangelism for introverts etc. As you can see we have used a wide variety of methods to stretch and teach others to be effective soul winners.

Perhaps the most significant aspect to our teaching is the need for the empowering of the Holy Spirit for evangelism. Acts 1:8 says that when we the Holy Spirit comes on us we will receive power to be witnesses to the ends of the Earth. We fully believe this and see this as an essential teaching. The Holy Spirit fills us with the love of God which also drives out all fear and motivates us to evangelise. Our prayer meetings are passionate, charismatic and typified by freedom in worship.

After the prayer meeting we have outreach which has always been fruitful with many decisions for Christ being made. We have preached at Train Stations, Shopping Centres, Restaurants, Streets, and Homes. Using different methods we are teaching, equipping and empowering people to GO FOR SOULS.
