TDE says that people will get offended if we give dogs food too soon. I have never seen a dog get offended at someone offering them food. With the gospel what are we preaching as the gospel to have that sort of idea? The gospel I preach is that our sin has separated us from a holy God, Christ was crucified to take away that which separates us because God loves us! So repent and believe and be saved! When we do relational evangelism we need to make sure we speak to our friends with love and compassion. We need to make sure that our gospel message will be seen as good news.
Think of it this way, how would you feel if you started evangelising a friend of yours, you speak about something small and inoffensive… Let’s say that fact that you are a Christian. Maybe a few weeks or months later you mention that you think Jesus is a good moral teacher… But then the next day Jesus comes back. It’s judgment time, and your friend is found guilty of sinning, has not accepted Christ and is therefore sentenced to hell. How would you feel knowing you had months, or years to communicate the gospel but you didn’t?
Now think about why you wouldn’t do it. Does it really have anything to do with their salvation, with whether they will accept it and be saved, OR does it have more to do with your own insecurities? Seriously, give everyone you can the opportunity to be saved. Tell them how they can be saved, tell them what Jesus has done to make it possible, and what they need to do to access it! That little piece of information could be the difference between eternal life and eternal death. Share as much as you can as soon as you can, it’s better that way!
